The Unraveling
The journey to creating Soul Resonance Collective has been both rocky and beautiful, heart-wrenching and joyous. It has been a process of being stripped bare and rebirthed. Full of dialectics.
For the last 19 years, I have worked as a social worker in a few different settings: the Air Force, Pine Rest, and most recently, my private practice, Courageous Life Counseling. And, as happens for so many of us, things were going well until they weren’t.
When Things Started to Unravel
Around three years ago, things started to unravel. My life was going well. My relationships were going well. My business was going well. But some things that my subconscious had been kind enough to protect me from for many years started bubbling to the surface.
I don’t know if you’ve ever experienced something like that, but if you have, you know how disorienting and destabilizing it can be. Per usual for me, I kept trying to move forward, doing all the things I had been doing. And, as I’ve learned, when I do that, what needs my attention tends to get louder and louder.
At the same time, I was beginning to learn about sound healing. I started attending sound baths and worked with a local provider who used tuning forks. The experiences were amazing. My body was able to relax in a way I couldn’t easily access through other modalities I was trying.
I began incorporating sound into my work with clients in my private practice, too. And they were able to experience moments of peace that were not typically accessible to them.
As my own unraveling continued, I was forced to face some deep wounds related to betrayal, responsibility, and safety. My capacity to hold space for my clients grew smaller. It is hard to show up and be there for someone else when you’re up to your eyeballs with your own emotions.
Listening to a Different Call
At the beginning of this year, I received a clear message from Spirit that the work I was doing was no longer in alignment with my soul’s purpose.
I had a successful business that I relied on for my financial well-being. And Spirit was saying, This is no longer the way.
Me being me, I absolutely resisted this idea. But, again, the message got louder and louder until I could no longer ignore it.
At the suggestion of my helpers, I decided to go on sabbatical in April. It was terrifying to let go of my business, my clients, whom I adored, and my sense of self-worth, which was largely wrapped up in my work and success. But it also felt imperative that I listen to this call.
So I did.
Pretty quickly, I realized that this wasn’t a take-a-month-off-work situation. This was a rearranging and reorganizing my whole life situation.
I closed my private practice and took a few weeks off, with no demands or responsibilities, to focus on my own healing. And then I started working on building what was to come next: Soul Resonance Collective.
What I’ve Learned Along the Way
I am incredibly fortunate to have had the help and support of so many people over the last three years. My husband, Ben, my amazing friends, the many helpers Spirit has put in my path, and my clients have all taught and helped me so much.
I’ve learned how to let other people see me. That I don’t have to do everything on my own. That I can share parts of myself I once thought I had to hide.
I’ve learned to trust myself and my instincts, to reconnect with myself, and to have the courage to try new things and test out all my great ideas.
And I’ve learned how to rest. How to just be. How to know that I am still worthy and deserving, even when I’m not producing, achieving, or working toward something.
These lessons are still unfolding. I don’t have it all figured out. But I’m learning to listen differently, to make room for what I need, and to trust that there is value in allowing life to unfold rather than trying to force it into a shape I recognize.
From Unraveling to Soul Resonance Collective
From this unraveling, something new and beautiful was birthed. I’ve taken my experiences and what I’ve learned along the way to help guide me in this new venture.
Soul Resonance Collective’s tagline is Pause. Listen. Remember.
To remember who we are, our true essence, our divine nature. To remember who we are underneath everything we have been made to believe about ourselves.
Sound healing is one avenue for connecting with that true essence. Through offerings like the Akashic Records, there are other opportunities to pause, listen, and explore the wisdom that may be waiting for us when we create space to do so.
Currently, Soul Resonance Collective is a collective of one. But my vision for its future is much more expansive.
I want to continue collaborating with the wealth of other helpers and healers in our community: Reiki providers, sound practitioners, yoga teachers, and others whose gifts complement this work. I’m open to what might unfold. I envision continuing to offer individual and small-group work, while eventually working as a collective in a shared space with other healers, where we can amplify each other’s gifts and serve the community in a more expansive way.
But most of all, I want everyone who comes to Soul Resonance Collective to feel seen, held, cared for, and supported.
I want people to reconnect with themselves, to allow rest, and to receive without expectations or guilt. I want this to be a place where people can let go of the pressure to get something right, fix themselves, or become someone different, and instead make room to remember who they already are.
And from this place of connection and remembering, my hope is that all who are touched by Soul Resonance Collective feel more able to be who they authentically are, bringing their own unique gifts, love, and light into the world.
I am so grateful for the people who have walked alongside me, the lessons that have brought me here, and the opportunity to create something that feels aligned with who I am becoming.
I don’t know exactly what this next chapter will look like. But I know that I am learning to pause, to listen, and to trust what I hear.
And I’m grateful to have you here as this next chapter unfolds.
